Robinhood Expands Crypto Footprint With Staking, EU Perpetual Futures, and Tokenized Equities

Robinhood is accelerating its global crypto strategy, rolling out a suite of new features and services as it aims to become a comprehensive digital finance platform, Decrypt Monday.
The U.S.-based trading app is launching ETH and Solana staking for New York users, with nationwide access planned pending regulatory approval. Staking will allow customers to earn rewards directly through the platform, removing the usual technical barriers associated with traditional crypto wallets. Robinhood is also introducing new fee tiers for high-volume traders, enhancements to its crypto trading API, and tools to simplify tax reporting, including cost basis tracking.
In Europe, Robinhood is broadening its derivatives offering with perpetual futures contracts on cryptocurrencies such as XRP, Dogecoin, and SUI. The contracts offer up to 7x leverage and extend the company’s earlier BTC and ETH futures launches. “When we set out to expand our perpetual futures offering in the EU, we looked closely at customer behavior, requests, market standards, and the evolving regulatory environment,” Robinhood said in a statement to Decrypt, noting that users value both flexibility and transparency.
European customers will also gain access to tokenized U.S. equities and money market funds managed by partners like J.P. Morgan. More than 1,000 U.S. stocks can now be traded 24/7 via blockchain-based tokens. Higher leverage allows traders to open positions with less cash upfront, though all trades begin at the lowest setting by default.
Perhaps the most significant development is Robinhood’s rollout of its own ETH-compatible layer-2 network, now officially named Robinhood Chain. The chain enables on-chain trading of tokenized stocks and other assets, supporting the company’s goal of creating an “all-in-one investment app powered by crypto” for European users. Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood Crypto’s senior vice president, told Decrypt earlier this year that putting stocks on-chain is designed to “remove this walled garden” and expand investor access.
Crypto continues to be a key growth driver for Robinhood. The platform reported $232 billion in trading volume and $51 billion in customer assets held as of Q3 2025. Compared to competitors such as Binance and Coinbase, Robinhood has historically lagged on features like staking, derivatives, and non-custodial wallet access — gaps the company is now actively closing.
Robinhood Expands Global Reach With Education
Robinhood is stepping up its global expansion with initiatives spanning education, emerging markets, and advanced trading. In the UK, the platform is to make investing knowledge more accessible and engaging for the public.
In Southeast Asia, by acquiring Buana Capital Sekuritas and a local crypto firm, giving it direct access to a growing retail-investor base and the ability to offer equities and crypto trading locally.
Meanwhile, to launch a regulated futures and derivatives platform. This joint venture will provide institutional-grade infrastructure for trading futures, derivatives, and prediction markets, signaling Robinhood’s push beyond retail-focused offerings.
